These might just be pretty photos to you BUT these photos almost put me in tears.
Years ago, I saw a photo that a friend photographer took and it spoke to me. The colors, the light. There was something different. I felt like it was a photo that spoke mountains and was true ART. Come to find out, it was a film photo. Like darkroom film. And since I saw it – I became obsessed and wanted to learn how to shoot film.
had a film camera passed from my dad and was so intimidated by it that I didn’t touch it for 5 YEARS.
Well finally decided I need to start somewhere! So this summer I shot a cheap roll of film on the automatic settings on his camera and got the scans back. I have to admit they weren’t the best but it. was. the. start. of. an. OBSESSION. I loved the raw and realness of the colors that I wanted to practice my butt off to get photos that I LOVED.
Well fast forward a few rolls later and LOTS of moola (film ain’t cheap!), I feel like I’m finally getting the of a hang of it.
These photo’s were shot with Kodak Portra400 in Utah and when I checked my email a couple of weeks after shooting them, I saw my film scans and I literally almost cried. These photos had the color and feel that I dreamed of achieving for years and years and here, I finally did it!
I curated photos that is ART TO ME and is work that I’m so proud of.
